BIOGRAPHY
Fred McIntyre lives on the
coast of Maine at Ocean Point in East Boothbay. He grew up in a little
town in Northern Maine called Enfield. He is a fine-art potter who derives
his inspiration from his surroundings, the Maine landscape. His work, whether
it is a hand-carved vase, a brightly glazed bowl, a dark seaweedpit-fired
vase or an earthy Raku piece, conveys the beauty and magic of Maine with
all it’s ruggedness and wonderful colours.
After a career in construction,
then a Plumbing and Heating Supervisor for a 300-bed hospital, Fred became
the Water Superintendent for the East Boothbay Water District in the town
of East Boothbay. However, he always yearned for and had a need to work
at something more creative but his medium seemed to elude him. A friend
introduced Fred to clay and the rest as they say is history.
